Friedrich Wöhler (1800-1882)

German chemist, Wöhler was born in Eschersheim, in 1800, and died in Goettingen, in 1882.

It was professor at the University of Goettingen. Obtained urea for the first time (1828) by the synthesis of ammonia compounds. This achievement contradicted the ideas, usual at the time, that was necessary a "vital force" for the synthesis of the organic compounds. Isolated aluminum for the first time in 1827, and beryllium in 1828.
