Iridium is normally used in the production of platinum alloys (with 5 to 10% of iridium) that makes the alloy harder and more resistant than pure platinum. The objects of platinum (medical equipment, jewelry etc) contain a small amount of iridium. The international metric standard is made of an alloy of platinum-iridium. The isotope with mass number 192 is used in industrial radiography.
